Friday
I got to sleep in and then spent a couple hours in bed because I didn't know what to do. A lot of my friends from class left on Friday and all of my roommates (plus a ton of people who live in my building) left Saturday. I thought it was going to be more lonely than it's turned out to be which is good.
I decided to visit the Ciutadella Park in the afternoon which I enjoyed. It's pretty big and reminded me of El Retiro in Madrid but not as extravagant. There was big a pond (with lime green water) and lots of statues. Lots of people were playing instruments or selling trinkets.

When I got off the bus I saw a cute little coffee shop so I had to go in. I sipped my coffee while walking around the park. It was hot outside!
I brought my book and set my towel out on the grass. I mostly ended up listening to a Podcast instead of reading, but I did get through one chapter.
At night my friend Pau came into Barcelona because he's from just south of here and we ate dinner. We met at Cal Poly freshman year and then were basically neighbors in the campus apartments sophomore year. I'm friends with all his roommates too so we were over at each other's apartments quite a bit.
We walked around a part of my neighborhood that I hadn't been to yet and then took the metro to walk through the main part of the city.
Saturday
I took a train to Sitges which was about 45 minutes away, close to Pau's hometown, so he could show me around. Sitges is right on the beach and was super crowded so we ended up going to Vilanova right away, where he lives.

It kind of just felt like we could be on the set of a movie. Or on the pages of some cliche summer read. Like, people actually live here all the time?! I wonder if it ever gets old.
We got bikes from his house, rode through town, and cruised for a while along the beach. Lots of fancy boats were docked in the port and the streets were full of locals eating, drinking, and vibing.

We went to the beach for a couple hours until we were hungry for lunch. After returning the bikes to Pau's house, we walked to his favorite gelato place. I got to talk with his parents for a little while before catching the train back to Barcelona.
Sunday
I took the day to enjoy the city before the hectic last week of class and the stress of packing up to leave.
I went window shopping in Zara and El Corte Ingles, the biggest department store company in Europe. I can't even remember how many floors it had. I strolled down Las Ramblas and Passeig de Gracia, two of the main streets for tourism. And, of course, found some gelato.
(I have run out of free storage on this website so I'm going to link out to more photos if you'd like to check them out)

Sounds like a great last weekend. Glad you had someone to walk around with and see more of the city. Of course, we always need gelato - lol! What a fantastic experience this has been for you and I'm glad you were able to do it.
