The first week of class has been great. I love having a routine and checking out cafes and restaurants after school with my classmates.
It was recently 4th of July in the states and a bunch of kids went out to this bar called George Payne that was having an American themed night. My roommate and I went mainly to see friends and so we could say we were there lol. I saw so many people that I knew and everyone was talking about it the next morning.
We waited in line for 15 minutes. I'd heard that earlier in the night they were turning people away so we were lucky to get in.
I won't lie, when we first walked in there I was kind of regretting it. To paint a picture - sweaty people, drinks spilled everywhere, broken glasses on the floor. Every time someone bumped into you their sweat just smeared onto yours which was gross. Maybe that's how it always is, I'm not sure! But it was way too busy to even get to the bar for a drink.
The two levels were decked out in USA decor and a lot of American songs were playing (think 'Sweet Caroline' and 'Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue').

It was the most unique 4th of July celebration I've ever experienced.
There are coffee shops on every block which I absolutely love. Whenever I take a trip with my family, my dad always wants us to try local restaurants instead of chains and I've adopted that here too. I will not have a Starbucks coffee in Spain!
There's a place called Buenas Migas right by my school which is really convenient to fit into the 20 minute break we have during class. I think it's a chain here because there are multiple locations, so it's probably not as local as you can get, but it's definitely not Starbucks. (Which is ironic because Starbies is right next door)
Today we walked around La Rambla which is a famous street in Barcelona. We got tapas at a restaurant and I tried sangria!
Now I'm packing for the Madrid trip this weekend! I'm excited.

So exciting reading your blog. You did a wonderful job of describing the bar and everything going on. Can't wait to read about Madrid. Hope you have a wonder time.
